Festoon cables for cranes and transport systems
In a festoon system the cable hangs in loops from cable trolleys that run along a rail or beam. This supplies a moving part, such as the trolley of a crane, with power and signals without the cable dragging or kinking. The cable bends constantly, may twist and is exposed to wear, moisture, temperature changes and sometimes chemicals. Prysmian festoon cables are designed for this continuous movement.
Round, flat and fibre-optic festoon cables
- RONDOFLEX XPRT (formerly RONDOFLEX): round low voltage cable for power and control, under high mechanical load and frequent bending
- RONDOFLEX (C)-FC XPRT: particularly suitable where power cables could cause interference on data cables or where the emission limits of EN 55011/55022 have to be met
- FESTOONFLEX PUR HF and FESTOONFLEX C PUR HF: for festoon systems under heavy-duty conditions, also suitable for energy chains and for permanent use in water (not drinking water) down to 50 metres immersion depth
- PLANOFLEX (K) 300/500 V and (S) 600/1000 V: flat cables for frequent bending in one plane
- OPTOFLEX and FIBER FLEX PUR FO: fibre-optic cables for optical data transmission under forced guidance, such as on motor reels, cable tracks and trolleys
What to consider when choosing a festoon cable
Look at the travel speed, the length of the travel path and the number of loops. Determine whether the cable also has to twist and what the environment is: outdoors or indoors, temperature range, moisture, flame and wear resistance. The cable and the cable trolleys together form the system. Vijselaar therefore also supplies festoon systems, such as flat cable trolleys, rail cable and cable trolleys, so you can match both.
